Why NPU?

Audiences Norway (NPU) is an organization that works towards strengthening arts and culture's position in our societies. A strong position is characterized by having an active audience that is representative of the broader population. We contribute to the democratization of culture by producing and distributing analysis of such a quality and scope that it allows our members to make empirically informed decisions in their work with audience and business development.

The value of the NPU membership

NPU's role is to keep track of audience development in the field. We contribute to the strengthening of arts and culture institutions' position in society by providing them with insight into their individual audience development, and for the sector at large, by gathering audience data in one place.

Our main service is NPU Monitor. As a plus member, you pay for access to the NPU Monitor dashboard, where you can compare yourself and your audience with other institutions in the sector, and the sector at an aggregate level. In 2021, we open the dashboard to institutions in the Nordic countries. This will expand basis for comparison, which can be particularly relevant with regard to digital content and audience development.

As a basic member, you get free access to reports from NPU Monitor and by signing into your online member profile, and free participation at all our online events. If you want to participate more actively in the analysis network, and examine your own audience, we invite you to upgrade to plus membership.

Based on our extensive analyses for individual members and the field as a whole, we are in a unique position to advise members regarding audience development and business development. We also offer professionally relevant meeting places, and hold lectures and workshops on behalf of both members and collaborative partners.

The majority of our reports, analyses and other resources are now only available to members signed in on the NPU website. As a member, you get access to your own personal profile, which you can update with contacts and other relevant information. Your profile is also linked to nominations for the NPU award and participation in various development projects and analysis collaborations. On other member's profiles, you can find the contact persons for current subject areas or specific projects. By highlighting competence and best practice in the various organizations, we facilitate knowledge sharing and network building within the NPU Network.
