Egil Bjørnsen

What is the state of audience development on national level and which among the arts and cultural organizations are leading with ´best audience development practices´?

Egil Bjørnsen is the chairman of Audiences Norway´s jury for the NPU Prize. He is leading the newly established Development Platform for Performing Arts in Denmark and has previously worked as Associate professor at Telemark University College and as a Senior researcher at the Agderforskning  Social Sciences research institute.

Egil holds a PhD from the Center for Cultural Policy Studies, University of Warwick, where he also served as Senior Teaching Fellow and Senior Director of the Masters Course in European Cultural Policy and Management. His experience also include positions both in Norway and the UK, including the National Theater, British Council and Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Egil has published several articles on audience development and has a strong research interest audience development, audience research, cultural policy and the impact of culture on individuals and society.
