Asta Herta

What does the creation of performances based on audience´s premises mean in practice?

How to reach young people remains one of the most frequently discussed questions. Some approaches include going out there, to places where they actually are to meet them – either library, youth centers, homes or even on the bus, as planned by Teaterkandidaterne from Denmark. The project, which is to take place in autumn 2017, they are addressing the young first-time voters during the Municipal elections in November 2017. The performance theme is welfare state and what it means for us. Who will destroy it and who will defend it?

Asta Herta is the Theatre Director of Teaterkandidaterne. Her passion for directing started already during the theatre school Teaterbutikken, where she was given the opportunity to learn more than ´just being an actor´. Her background includes theatre education and directing for the children theatre school. Asta is a graduate from Ryslinge Teaterhøjskole and founder of the young collective Teaterkandidaterneyoung.

Teaterkandidaterne are the youth platform of Teatergrad, a theater collective who has left the closed institutions of the theater institutions to enter the city and work with the audience. You can read more about Teatergrad here.
